Early Years
Hello and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Richard Dick Gould or RDG and I am a singer, guitarist and songwriter based in Worcestershire, England. I began playing guitar at the age of 13 and have played, performed, composed songs and written poetry most of my life.
Us Kids, a poem about my childhood
What times we had us 50s kids so wild
Racing up and down our streets
Going to Miss Woods for sweets
Six-pennyworth of sucks and our Saturday club
Every week we’d play those games
We’d be the heroes of our dreams Macintoshes round our neck
Zoro on our silver screen
And every Friday if we were good
I’d run down nine foot way
My mum would buy us Bullocks cream cakes
At Auntie Mary’s we would play
And I remember my first music rush
My cousin Mike would play Brenda Lee from America
That land so far away
Diana Creamery Salters flics Winter Gardens Lido play
A lovely place to be back then
What times we had us 50s kids
When I was nine or ten
And every Friday if we were good I’d run down nine foot way
My mum would buy us Bullocks cream cakes
At Auntie Mary’s we would play
What times we had us 50s kids
When I was nine or ten

My Writing
I write about the emotions of Life, Love and Heartbreak, telling stories about real, historical and imaginary events that effect all of us. The complex time we spend on our planet is a mixture of the above. Historical events have previously occurred and are always both fascinating and challenging to write about. Each of us can relate to these emotions and each of us have personal experiences which shape our lives. We can relate in some way to the joy, pain and anguish they conjure up for us as individuals. Life is a jigsaw puzzle and sometimes a piece or two is missing or lost. I know this so well personally and I always try to express it in my creativity.
Love and loss
Love is an amazing emotion and it can sneak up on you, sometimes when you don’t expect it! It can be beautiful, painful, exhilarating, exciting and dangerous. Sometimes, we seek or experience in our lives, all of these emotions rolled into one. So much to compose songs about and a privilege to share with you. Heartbreak? Ah yes! This one is all too familiar to me. Unbearable sadness and pain; losing those close to you is like a knife through your heart. A wife, husband, lover or friend, each one shaping our complicated existence and each one contributing to the shape of our lives. So, I invite you to share my life through my personal songs and poetry. Maybe they will touch you in the same way as the many people I’ve travelled with have touched me.

Our Environment
I care deeply about our planet, its future and continuation which is vital for our children and grandchildren. Politicians are often quick to ‘talk the talk’ and we, as humans, also appear to take pride in ‘doing our bit’ but do we really care enough? Is this the real truth? As I have written in one of my songs called Heading West, “Mother Earth Has Shed Her Skin”. I view this is as a reality of what we are doing to our planet. My wish is for a world in which we can live together in peace and harmony without destruction and conflict. To borrow a phrase from Ringo Starr ‘’Peace and Love”
